Carla Hustedt leitet das Projekt „Ethik der Algorithmen“ der Bertelsmann Stiftung. Sie koordinierte die Entwicklung der Algo.Rules, einem Regelkatalog für die ethische Gestaltung algorithmischer Systeme und des KI-Ethiklabels der AI Ethics Impact Group. Carla Hustedt ist Mitglied des Beirats des Centers for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS), des Hessichen Kompetenzzentrums für verantwortungsbewusste Digitalisierung und beriet die KI-Enquete Kommission des deutschen Bundestages zur Transparenz von KI-Systemen. 2019 war Carla Carla Hustedt Finalistin in der Kategorie „Science“ des Digital Female Leader Awards

Carla Hustedt

Carla Hustedt is part of the management team and director of the "Centre for Digital Society" at the Mercator Foundation. She has been conducting research, communicating and developing projects on the societal impact of digitalisation for several years, until April 2021 as the head of the Bertelsmann Foundation's "Ethics of Algorithms" project. Among other things she led the development of the Algo.Rules, 9 rules for the ethical design of algorithmic systems and coordinated an interdisciplinary scientific alliance, the "AI Ethics Impact Group" in their development of an AI Ethics label. In 2019, she advised the AI Enquete Commission of the German Bundestag on the transparency of algorithmic systems. Carla Hustedt is a member of the advisory board of the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) and the initiative "SheTransformsIT" for more diversity in the tech sector. According to the digital magazine "Female One Zero", she is one of the "Top 10 Women in Data" in Germany. She holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the London School of Economics, with a focus on behavioural economics and e-governance, and a Master's degree in Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance. Her work on equality-issues and the strengthening of civil society started back in 2010 when she founded the German-Ghanaian human rights organisation "Boa Nnipa" – an organization that has provided education on sexual and reproductive health to more than 70.000 students in Ghana.
