Teresa Staiger

Teresa Staiger is a political scientist and an expert in common-good-oriented artificial intelligence (AI). She analyzes AI developments from a critical societal and international perspective. As a Project Manager for reframe[Tech] at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, she shaped the project’s strategy on the responsible development and use of generative AI.

Her current work focuses on a study investigating the data foundations of foundation models, exploring how they can be designed to better serve the common good. The study’s findings will be published at the end of May 2025.

Previously, she led the multistakeholder project Tech-Exploration in der Wohlfahrt, a six-week program aimed at identifying meaningful AI application ideas in the welfare sector.

For the past two years, she has also published the German newsletter Erlesenes, a biweekly selection of curated articles, studies, and debates on AI and the common good.

Before that, she worked as a policy officer for the Forum Digitalisierung und Engagement project at the Bundesnetzwerk Bürgerschaftliches Engagement.
